Connect Bottle to Claude or ChatGPT

Connect Bottle to Claude or ChatGPT

Ask your AI assistant about your own Bottle account in plain language, like "When is my next drop?" or "What do I need to prep today?" The assistant pulls the answer straight from Bottle.

The address you will enter: Both assistants ask for a server URL. Use exactly this one:

https://api.bottle.com/mcp

What connecting does

Connecting Bottle to Claude or ChatGPT lets you ask about your account from the assistant you already use. You connect once per assistant. After that, the assistant asks Bottle for fresh data every time you ask a question, so answers are always current.

It can It cannot
See your next drop and who is on it Place, edit or cancel orders
Summarise revenue for any date range Message your customers
Count cancelled orders Change products, prices or settings
Build your prep list for a day See your password
List orders due on a date, by slot See any other merchant's data
Show upcoming fulfillment windows Act on your behalf in any way

Before you start

You need three things:

  1. The AI assistant feature turned on for your Bottle account. It is off by default. Email support@bottle.com and ask for the AI assistant connection to be enabled. If you try to connect before it is on, the Bottle sign-in page says "The AI assistant connection is not enabled for this account yet."
  2. Your Bottle dashboard login. The same email and password you use at dashboard.bottle.com. Any team member who can sign in to your dashboard can connect an assistant.
  3. A Claude or ChatGPT plan that supports connectors. In Claude these are called connectors. In ChatGPT they are called apps. Free tiers do not currently allow custom connectors, so check your plan if the options below are missing.

Connect in Claude

Once Bottle is listed in the Claude connector directory you can search for "Bottle" under Settings, Connectors and skip to step 4. Until then, add it as a custom connector:

  1. In Claude (web or desktop app), open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Enter Bottle as the name and https://api.bottle.com/mcp as the URL, then click Add.
  4. Click Connect next to Bottle. A Bottle sign-in page opens in a new window.
  5. Check the page: it is headed "Connect Claude to your Bottle account" and says you will be sent back to claude.ai. Enter your Bottle dashboard email and password, then click Allow.
  6. You are returned to Claude and Bottle shows as connected.

To use it in a chat, open the tools menu (the + or sliders icon under the message box), make sure Bottle is switched on, and ask your question. Claude will tell you when it is reading from Bottle.

Claude Code (terminal): run claude mcp add --transport http bottle https://api.bottle.com/mcp, start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose Bottle and sign in through the browser window that opens.

Connect in ChatGPT

Once Bottle is listed in the ChatGPT app directory you can install it from Settings, Apps, search "Bottle", and skip to step 6. Until then, add it through developer mode:

  1. In ChatGPT (web), open Settings, then Apps & Connectors (on some accounts this is called Connectors).
  2. Open Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  3. Go back to Apps & Connectors and click Create.
  4. Enter Bottle as the name, https://api.bottle.com/mcp as the MCP server URL, and choose OAuth for authentication. Tick the box confirming you trust the app, then click Create.
  5. Click Connect. A Bottle sign-in page opens.
  6. Check the page: it is headed "Connect ChatGPT to your Bottle account" and says you will be sent back to chatgpt.com. Enter your Bottle dashboard email and password, then click Allow.
  7. You are returned to ChatGPT and Bottle shows as connected.

To use it in a chat, click the + button in the message box, choose Bottle from the apps list (under More if it is not shown), and ask your question. In developer mode ChatGPT may ask you to confirm each time it reads from Bottle. That stops once Bottle is installed from the directory.

What you can ask

Ask in your own words. The assistant picks the right Bottle lookup from the six below.

Try asking What Bottle returns Good to know
"When is my next drop?" Your next drop, its fulfillment date, autocharge time and how many customers are on it Looks at drops with a fulfillment date today or later
"What's my revenue for the past 2 months?" Gross revenue, refunds and net revenue for the period By payment date, paid orders that are not cancelled. Matches the Revenue report in your dashboard. Defaults to the last 30 days
"How many cancelled orders did I have in September?" Cancelled orders and total orders placed in the period Counted by the date the order was placed, not the date it was cancelled
"What do I need to prep today?" Quantity of each product across paid orders due that day, plus ingredient totals if you track ingredients Prep is by fulfillment date. Say a date for another day, for example "for Friday"
"What orders are due on Friday?" Orders for that fulfillment date grouped by pickup or delivery slot, with customer, item count and total Shows up to 200 orders and tells the assistant if there are more
"What fulfillment windows are coming up?" Upcoming pickup, delivery and shipping windows across your stores Includes the store and method for each window

Dates and times are in your account's time zone. Money is in US dollars. If financial data is hidden on your account, revenue questions return no figures.

The assistant can combine lookups, so "Compare this month's revenue to last month" or "How many customers are on the next drop and what do I need to prep for it?" both work.

Manage and disconnect

Every assistant you have connected is listed in your dashboard under Settings, Integrations, in the Connected apps card. Each row shows the app (Claude or ChatGPT), the date you connected it and when it last read from Bottle.

To remove one, click Disconnect on its row and confirm. The assistant loses access immediately. The next time you ask it a Bottle question it will tell you to reconnect, and you can do so at any time by repeating the steps above.

Removing Bottle inside Claude or ChatGPT stops that assistant using the connection, but the access it was granted stays valid in Bottle until it expires. If you want to be sure, disconnect from the Bottle dashboard as well.

Access is also removed automatically when the team member who connected it changes their password or is deactivated. Bottle support can disconnect an assistant for you on request.

Security and privacy

  • Your password never leaves Bottle. You only ever type it on a Bottle page at api.bottle.com. Claude and ChatGPT receive a limited access key, not your password, and they cannot see or change it.
  • Access is read-only. The access key can only read the data listed in this guide. It cannot change anything in your account, and Bottle does not let an assistant act on your behalf.
  • Access expires. Each key lasts one hour and renews itself while you keep using the assistant. If you do not use it for 30 days, the connection lapses and you sign in again.
  • It is tied to you. The connection belongs to the team member who signed in. If that person's dashboard login is deactivated, the connection ends with it.

Check the sign-in page. A genuine request shows the assistant's name (Claude or ChatGPT) and the site you will be sent back to. If the page shows an app name you do not recognise, or says "not verified by Bottle", click Cancel.

Data you ask about goes to the assistant. Answers, including customer names on orders, are sent to Anthropic or OpenAI and handled under their terms. Only share what you are comfortable sharing with that assistant. See the Bottle privacy policy for how Bottle handles the connection on its side.

Troubleshooting

What you see What it means What to do
"The AI assistant connection is not enabled for this account yet." The feature is off for your account Email support@bottle.com to have it turned on, then connect again
"Email or password is incorrect." The login did not match a dashboard team member on your account Use the email and password you sign in with at dashboard.bottle.com. Reset your password from the dashboard sign-in page if needed
"Too many attempts. Try again in 15 minutes." Five failed sign-ins in a row for that email Wait 15 minutes, then try again
"Too many requests from your network." Many connection attempts from the same network in a short time Wait 10 minutes, then try again
"We could not start this connection" The assistant sent a request Bottle could not accept, usually a mistyped address Check the URL is exactly https://api.bottle.com/mcp, then remove and re-add the connector
The assistant says Bottle needs to be reconnected The connection expired after 30 days without use, or it was disconnected from the dashboard Click Connect on the Bottle connector in the assistant and sign in again
The assistant answers without using Bottle The connector is switched off for that chat Turn Bottle on in the chat's tools or apps menu and ask again
Numbers differ from a dashboard report Different date basis Revenue is by payment date, cancellations by order date, prep and orders by fulfillment date. Ask for a specific date range to compare like for like
